Her: "I thought you would not drink today atleast. "
Him: "Don't you know why I am drinking?"
Her: "I know. You are drinking because of me. But remember today its our marriage anniversary."
Him: "Anniversary? My foot! Because of this stupid marriage I am like this today. "
Her: "Is there anything that I can do to make you happy?"
Him: "Very, well yes! You can give me freedom from you and this marriage."
Her: "Are you sure you will be happy after that?"
Him: "Yes, I will be the most happiest person if you leave me and go. "
Her: "Fine. Get me the papers tomorrow. I will sign it for you."

Well this is what I think might have happened..
Lets call this guy in his life to be A. but long back before meeting A she had a very nice friend say B. but may be they crossed some boundries of friendship and went into the tabboo zone. but the girl has no feelings for B nor did B had for her. but they still are friends. because they are very close friends they can't ignoring each other for one wrong step in a weak moment. now girl meets A. they fall in love. introduces B to A telling B is her best frnd in life. everything is fine and good. girl gets married to A. everything is fine until one day A finds out from somewhere they B and the girl are not just friends. he is mad at her for not telling him abt it. over all he is mad that she is stil talking to B. he don't say anything to her why he is mad.. he just starts drinking and smoking. she trys to find out.. he never tells her. in his mind a doubt is created. he wants to let her go feeling that she still has feelings for B. but A is not relaizing that whatever happend is long back and she loves him. he is the only one she can be happy with..
i don't think the whole mistake is of the guy as a lot of ur readers have commented. but true that he should understand the situation and its in his hand to make it work. what happend is happend. the good part is she is with him now. and the girl shouldn't give up on him either so fast. after all from the post what i figured out is she can't be very happy after siging the papers.
